So, I'm Haley, 18 and in Florida. The content of this blog ranges from all things fandom-y (Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Homestuck, Nerdfighteria, Batman, etc), to random somethings that pop into my head and/or rants on world suck. Be prepared for stuff. So. Yes. Enjoy the awkwards; they are quite bountiful.

Darcy: “Excuse me, Lizzie.”
The three words that make a fandom go to pieces.
Now, I’d like to take the time to point out three simple facts that will make everyone very sad (I’m sorry).
A) The shot before Darcy walks in, Lizzie has the camera zoom in, “for dramatic effect”, or rather, to make sure you can’t see Darcy’s face above his mouth (a rather theatre of the absurd effect, but there it is). The shot is the same in the preview for the next episode, so we know that the shot will not change to reveal Darcy.
B) Lizzie stands in the preview. Lizzie will not sit down and be passive when she’s busy yelling at Darcy, and Darcy will neither sit down when she is standing, nor sit down when he’s also angry at her for taking such a narrow view of him, so they will both remain standing.
C) Lizzie will not change the camera angle during the course of the video. She’ll be too busy trying not to kill Darcy, and besides that, she doesn’t want him to know the videos exist, so she’ll pretend the camera doesn’t exist.
Conclusion: Not only will we not get to see Darcy’s face yet, but we will not get to see Lizzie’s reactions to their first onscreen verbal spar (which, to me, is almost just as bad!) The Audience is reduced to inference from body language, and vocal expression (and much frustration).
I’d also like to point out that, considering all mentions of Darcy in the novel, the writers could very well go ten or twenty episodes without showing Darcy, after this.
From now on, When Doctor Who and Sherlock fans cry “Moffat!” I’ll say, “No, that’s nothing compared to the genius of the LBD writers.” Congratulations.
I may cry.

Anne, I have to tell you, I pushed for it to happen the way that you describe. But the the kind-hearted and lovely people of the LBD writing staff (and Bernie Su) would not let me be that terrible so…yes…you will see Darcy in the next episode…you do not have to cry.

I actually always thought we won’t hear much of the letter Darcy sends and it will be filtered through Lizzie because I...
